چکیده

A long-term experiment (2013 to 2017) of treated sewage effluent (TSE) levels via fertigation in a humid tropical region was installed Jaboticabal, state São Paulo, Southeast Brazil, evaluate the impact TSE on soil fertility and potential for salinization heavy metal contamination an Oxisol. The area cultivated with Urochloa brizantha under application four at irrigation depth (0, 11, 60, 100% TSE) during years experiment. chemical composition monitored throughout experimental period. were evaluated 0-0.10 0.10-0.20 m layers end Fertigation using did not increase concentration potentially toxic elements (As, Cd, Cu, Hg, Mo, Ni, Pb, Se, Zn) due their low effluent. higher Na also observed high (60 100%). However, sodium adsorption rate low, generating no sodification. increased fertility, increasing by more than 10% P content base saturation compared control. According attributes effluent, this study showed that regions clayey soils forage grasses is recommended.

2 Effects of medium - term amendment with sewage 3 sludge on soil organic fertility and on heavy metal 4 bioavailability

The biomass fraction of processed municipal and industrial wastes added to soil can 10 maintain, and in some case improve, the soil’s organic fertility. One of the main constraints in the 11 agricultural use of the sewage sludge is its content of heavy metals. In the long term, soil 12 administration of sewage sludge in agriculture could result in a risk of environmental impact. The 13 aim of t...

The Effect of Liming and Sewage Sludge Application on Heavy Metal Speciation in Soil

The aim of this paper is to assess the effect of liming and low doses of municipal sewage sludge (5%, 10%, 15% of the soil mass) on lead, chromium and nickel speciation in soil. The 420-day experiment was carried out in laboratory conditions. In all the samples lead, chromium and nickel concentration was determined with the ICP-AES method, while the content of those metals in different fraction...

Nitrogen Forms, pH and Total Carbon in a Soil Incubated with Treated Sewage Effluent

In this study, an experiment under controlled conditions was carried out to determine the effects of secondarytreated sewage effluent (STSE) application on soil nitrogen concentrations (mineral and total), total carbon and soil pH. The soil and STSE used were collected at Lins, São Paulo State, Brazil. A completely randomized design was used, in completed factorial 4x11 (weekly application rate...

Heavy metal Impact on Soil Microbial Biomass , Soil dehydrogenase activity and Soil Respiration rate

The contamination of agricultural soils by heavy metals is a global problem. Soil texture as a biotic factor represents one of the most important factors that influences the distribution of organic matter and ultimately play decisive role in retention of heavy metals in soil ecosystem. The effects of heavy metals on soil microbial processes were investigated. Analytical grade sulphate and chlor...

Heavy Metal Soil Content as an Indicator of Pollution

Two soil sample series were collected from 7 contaminated sites situated along a transect from the pollutant source, Zlatna copper ore-processing plant, and analyzed using different analytical methods. The soils collected in 1998 were analyzed by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) after extraction with DTPA for trace metals and those collected in 1999 were analyze...
